CFNRV Announces Fall 2011 Orphan Grants

Tuesday, December 13th 2011

The Community Foundation of the New River Valley (CFNRV) awards grants in competitive grant cycles in the spring and fall of each year and regularly receives a far greater number of worthy projects than it is able to fund. As a result, the Foundation’s Distribution Committee initiated the Orphan Grant Program in 2009, selecting several highly ranked, unfunded applications in each cycle to publicize widely amongst our donors and the broader community. Since initiating this program several generous donors have come forward to fund these important community projects.

The CFNRV is pleased to announce its Fall 2011 Orphan Grants. Already, before publicizing these applications widely, a recently established giving circle at the Community Foundation, ArtsStart, has stepped forward to fund one of these projects. ArtsStart will provide a $500 grant to the Valley Interfaith Child Care Center to provide music classes for preschool children twice per month. We appreciate the generosity of ArtsStart and are fortunate to offer the additional orphan projects below for consideration.

Anyone interested in funding an orphan project, in part or in full, may contact the CFNRV at 540.381.8999 or email jessicawirgau@cfnrv.org
