The Community Foundation, together with multiple non-profit organizations, has teamed up with the Virginia Tech German Club Alumni Foundation (GCAF) for the Fourth Annual “Leading Lights: Neighbors Honoring Neighbors” recognition awards for volunteers in our community. Leading Lights recognizes volunteers in the NRV from all sectors who are making community-changing impacts and serving as models to inspire others.  Nominate an outstanding volunteer HERE by February 13, 2012!

CFNRV Announces Fall 2011 Orphan Grants

The CFNRV regularly receives a far greater number of worthy applications in its grant cycles than it is able to fund. Each cycle, the Distribution Committee selects several highly ranked, unfunded projects as Orphan Grants to publicize widely among our donors and the broader community. Several donors have generously contributed to funding these projects since launching the program in 2009. The CFNRV is pleased to announce its Fall 2011 Orphan Grants.

The Christiansburg Police Department was awarded a $500 grant from the Loving Care Fund for its Child Car Seat Program

The CFNRV celebrated awarding over $45,000 in grants this fall with a breakfast at the Draper Mercantile & Trading Company on November 30th and announced two new initiatives for 2012: The Draper Village Project and the Community Impact Grant Program.
